Chase Taddonio JR QB Riverside
The Vikings have scored 112 points over the past 2 weeks and Taddonio has made it look easy. Taddonio has not only put up video game numbers but has been super efficient in wins over Mahanoy and Carbondale. I'm going to let the numbers speak for themselves, 32 of 41 for 604 yards and 9 touchdowns and also 3 rushing TDs.
Lukas Gumble SR RB Lackawanna Trail
The Lions continue to pummel teams and these past 2 weeks have been no different, outsourcing their opponents 87-28. Gumble has continued to be a nightmare for opposing defenses as his ability to run north to south or east to west has given opposing defenses a different look. In mercy rule wins over Dunmore and Old Forge Gumble ran for 174 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Hunter Baumgardner SR RB West Scranton
Not only a monster day for Baumgardner in week 4, but a big game for the program notching them their first win and keeping the Invaders in playoff contention. Baumgardner was a force to be reckoned with against Hazleton, playing one of if not the best games of his career rushing for 314 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Reese Gaughan SR WR Riverside
Records are meant to be broken and Gaughan continues to shatter them. It was just another video game like performance over the past 2 weeks for Gaughan as he broke both the single game receiving yards record and the all-time LFC receiving yard record. In dominating wins over Mahanoy and Carbondale, Gaughan recorded 18 receptions for 413 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Anchor 2
Mason Fedor SR WR Abington Heights
Big time players make time to play and Fedor did so in a big way in week 5 against Wallenpaupack. On top of Fedor having a monster day where he recorded 13 receptions for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns he came up with a massive play late.
After blowing a 21-7 lead and trailing 28-21 heading into the fourth Fedor caught the go ahead touchdown from 17 yards out to help the Comets hold on and win.
Aiden Black SR TE Delaware Valley
The Stanford commit continues to add on to his case of being the best player in District, and has shown up in 2 of the biggest games this year. Black continues to just be a nightmare matchup for opposing defenses as DBs are too small to guard him and LBs are too slow to guard. As a result Black has played his best ball the past 2 weeks recording 4 receptions for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Anchor 3
Cooper Patterson G Lackawanna Trail
One of if not the most underappreciated players in the league Patterson is quickly becoming one of the best guards in the state. Patterson is just a force to be reckoned with on Friday’s nights and is just a nightmare in this Wing T offense when pulling guard. In this 2 week span Patterson has helped the Lions rush for 314 yards a game.
Rogan Doughetry JR G Dunmore
The Bucks went old school smash mouth football on Friday night and only attempted 1 pass and the rushing attack led by Dougherty would have made Jack Henzes proud. Dougherty did a great job of creating holes and getting to the second level, also played very well in the Wing T. Doughtery helped the Bucks score a season high 46 points and rush for 400 yards.
Jerry Waslichak C Valley View
The Cougars ground attack has been the story to their 6-0 start and that success has started upfront with Waslichak. Waslichak has been dominant from his Center position opening big run holes in the A gap for this Cougars offense. The Cougars have scored 76 points the past 2 weeks and are averaging 325.5 rushing yards a game.
Nick Denoie T Honesdale
The Hornets started off the year 0-4 and have bounced back to 2-4 with two seller performances on offense led by Denoie. Denoie has helped the Hornets average 49.5 points per game and the offense has been very balanced. Denoie has helped the Hornets rush for 276.5 yards a game and throw for 150 yards a game.
Evan Dean JR T Western Wayne
The Wildcats continue to go smash mouth football, and continue to run off tackle where big number 74 has led the way. Dean has just been a wrecking ball at tackle doing a great job of winning his one on one matchups on the edge and opening holes in the Wildcat's lethal ground game. That has averaged 266 yards a game.
Anchor 4
Chad Hoskins SR DE Riverside
Don’t let the size fool you. Hoskins doesn’t play like a 5,1 d-end, and he has been the anchor of this Vikings defense over the past 2 weeks. Hoskins has been dominant off the edge off and helped the starters post shutout over Carbondale last week where he recorded 16 tackles.
Carter Faubel JR DT Delaware Valley
The Warriors defense continues to impress and look like one of the best defenses in the league, and part of that success has started upfront with Faubel.
Faubel has emerged as one of the district's premier run stuffers and in week 5 helped hold Scranton Prep to a season low 78 yards where he recorded 9 tackles in the win.
Steven Halloran SR DE Valley View
The Cougars defense continues to shine and it has been the foundation to their 6-0 start led by Halloran upfront. Halloran continues to show that he is one of the best edge threats in the league and continues to shine as both a pass rusher and a run stuffer. In big wins over Abington Heights and Pittston Halloran has recorded 7 tackles, 1 for a loss, 1 sack, 3 hurries and a fumble recovery.
Anchor 5
Kevin Vincent So LB Holy Cross
The Crusaders played in as close of a game as it gets in week 5, and Vincent’s defense performance was a big reason for the win. Vincent was all over the field last Saturday and made big play after big play where he finished with 7 tackles, 3 sacks and a fumble recovery.
Bradley Bibalo JR LB Honesdale
The Hornets have been one of the hottest teams in the league the past 2 weeks and the defense has told the story led by Bibalo. Bibalo has taken over as the leader of this Hornets defense, and has shined these past 2 weeks where he has recorded 18 tackles, 2 for a loss and a sack.
Joey Granko SR LB Old Forge
The Devils came away with a much-needed win in week 5 against Lakeland and Granko’s performance told the story. Granko was just a force to be reckoned with and played one of the best games of his career recording 13 tackles, 1 for a loss, a forced fumble and recovery.
Xaiden Schock JR LB Wallenpaupack
The Buckhorns have playmakers all over the field and Schock is no exception. Schock has been a tackling machine the entire season and the past 2 weeks have been no different where he has recorded 22 tackles and 2 for a loss.
Anchor 6
Max Kimmel SR DB Lackawanna Trail
The Lions continue to dismantle teams and the defense has been one of the best in the state led by Kimmel. Kimmel continues to be one of the district's best DBs, and teams continue to pay the price throwing his way. Kimmel recorded 5 tackles, a pass breakup and an interception over the past 2 weeks.
Ethan Grodack SR DB Western Wayne
The Wildcats have only given up 14 points over the past 2 weeks, and they have gotten big plays in the secondary led by Grodack. Grodack has played his best ball the past 2 weeks, and came up big in wins over Carbondale and Western Wayne. Grodack recorded 14 tackles, 3 passes defended and 2 interceptions.
Chris Savkov SR DB Valley View
The Cougars defense continues to be the story of their success and the secondary has been phenomenal led by Savkov. Savkov has great size for a corner which allows him to match up with any receiver, he has played some of his best ball over these past 2 weeks recording 4 tackles, a pass defended, and an interception. He helped hold Abingtons top 2 receivers to just 14 yards.
Oliver Almonte SR DB Scranton
The Knights railed from down 27-12 to defeat North Pocono and defense wins games and Almonte came up big. The first-year football player is a mountain at DB and Safety standing at 6,4 and came up with a massive play picking off a pass to help the knights secure the win.
